Tux Maki – Dog Of The Month

Tux is our July 2018 Featured Dog of the Month! Tux is a big burly black pitbull-mix. He has a reputation of having a ton of energy at first, but one will instantly figure out that he’s super, super sweet (after about 4 seconds tops!). He’s just excited as can be to see you, that’s all! Tux is an Old Town resident, who is often walked by Scott, our Featured Walker of the Month! Tux is among Scott’s favorites because of how energetic and thrilled he is to see Scott every day.  It makes work feel like a playdate! We are so happy to have Tux as part of our DDI family! Also, check him out on Instagram by following “The Life Of Tux” (Only VIP Dogs Get Instagrams!) Below is an interview with his mom, Emily, about this spirited pit!

DDI: When and where did you get Tux?

Emily: March 2017 from One Tail at A Time Rescue in Chicago. I had just started volunteering and fostering in January, and it didn’t take long to fall in love with Tux, who was only 3 months old at the time.

DDI: What is your favorite thing about Tux?

Emily: His cow nose. His personality. His excitement for life. He’s a master snuggler and likes to be the little spoon when he burrows under the covers every. single. night. He loves to fall asleep on the couch with his head on my chest. The closer the better!

DDI: If you could describe Tux’s life attitude in one sentence, what would it be?

Emily: “Give me all the peanut butter kongs”

DDI: Tell us a cute/funny story about Tux?

Emily: When we bring a treat home for Tux in a backpack or package, he immediately knows. He drags the backpack around the apartment until we open it for him. Tux also likes to flop down on his side, or back, mid walk. Tired, hot, or just because, he will pass pout in the middle of the sidewalk.  Lastly, Tux loves to sit next to his human at all times. If you park yourself on a curb, bench, or anything, he’s immediately sitting there next to you hanging out! More fun anecdotes on his Instagram – “the_life_of_tux”
