One quality Dogs Deserve It looks for in prospective walkers is their drive and desire to always perform their job to the highest ability. To see a walker work tremendously hard to improve upon the services they provide their clients is like watching a dog settle down to sleep by a fireplace – heart warming! Dogs Deserve It is thrilled to present Shelly Christensen, a kind-hearted, deeply-caring, and driven person, as the featured walker that exemplifies these qualities each and every day of her job.
Since starting with Dogs Deserve It in October 2016, Shelly has constantly shown us how dedicated she is to caring for everyone’s dogs. She reaches out when Harvey struggles with walking, she calls when Podrick spits up the water he drank, she tells us stories of how Rory melted her heart that day, she beams when she talks about her family’s Labradors, she asks how to encourage Weasley out of his room, she buys more turkey slices for Denver to encourage him to swallow his meds. We are so lucky to have Shelly a part of the Dogs Deserve It team, always going above and beyond to care for your sweet cats and dogs which she loves as much as you do.
DDI: Why did you decide to become a dog walker?
Shelly: I’m a retired flight attendant for American Airlines. I retired after an injury and spent 2 years trying to get out of pain. I had a difficult time deciding what I could do for work and then discovered that walking really helped my pain subside. I have always been passionate about dogs and loved the idea of working with them everyday. DDI was a great option that combined my love of walking and dogs.
DDI: What is your favorite thing about the job? and DDI?
Shelly: The dogs are the bonus of the job. There is a lot of work involved before walking the dogs but the excitement and personality of the dogs is my favorite thing. DDI is a small company with great managers. No matter what problems arise, they stay calm and make sure the dogs got their walks. DDI has such a wide variety of people who all come together for the love of dogs.
DDI: Tell us about your passions/hobbies.
Shelly: In my spare time, I love to take care of my grandson. He is my life. And I love spending time with my family. My son, daughter, mom, and sisters. If I have spare time I’m with one of them.
DDI: What would you like our readers/clients to know most about you?
Shelly: I have 2 grand puppies. My son has a 6 year old chocolate lab and my daughter has a 1 year old black lab. I love spending time with and spoiling my grand puppies. They had a lot to do with my decision to become a dog walker.
Thank you, Shelly, for always searching to improve in every facet of your job. We appreciate you and love having you a part of the DDI family!
