Darius is incredibly patient with dogs of all behavior types. Throughout his career as a dog groomer and dog walker, Darius has often found himself in challenging situations where a dog isn’t warming up to him, doesn’t want its fur cleaned, or tugs on the leash with vigor! Through his calm approach and understanding, Darius finds a way to connect with the animal and earn its trust and respect.
Recently, Darius found a stray dog that he named Male Taco, because he resembled our General Manager’s beloved female dog Taco. Darius took Male Taco in and provided him the care he needed until his permanent home was found. Darius would have loved to adopt Male Taco as his own, but Darius had already filled his home with cats that he found and adopted as well!
Caring for animals is something that comes naturally to Darius, and is one of the many reasons why Dogs Deserve It nominated him as our Featured Walker. Please read on to learn more about why Darius is such a wonderful additional to the DDI family!
DDI: Why did you decide to become a dog walker?
Darius: Honestly, I think dog walking chose me. I actually randomly stumbled upon the job. I was searching for more work. I just knew whatever job I wanted next had to include dogs! I had no idea dog walking was an actual job haha. It combined both things I love (staying active and dogs of course) and it also offers a fun environment. Everyday’s a new adventure! Never know who you’re gonna meet or what you’ll run into! They say when you’re doing what you love, there’s no work at all, and that’s exactly how I feel.
DDI: What is your favorite thing about the job? and DDI?
Darius: My favorite thing about DDI is that we’re not just some ordinary corporate company, we’re actually all friends! It really says something when you can have a karaoke night/party with all your managers and even the company owner herself. I love how DDI makes you feel welcome. I also like how there’s a new dog almost every morning at the office! Really keeps my week interesting.
DDI: Tell us about your passions/hobbies!
Darius: Besides dogs of course, my main hobby is being a creative. Whether I express myself through my music or my artwork, you’ll be able to undoubtably feel the love I have for both. Another one of my hobbies is trying (and utterly failing) to teach my kitten Lilo dog tricks haha.
DDI: What would you like our readers/clients to know most about you?
Darius: I’d like the readers to know of the love I have for all my dogs. I’ve met dogs from lots of different neighborhoods and they have all left an impression on me and vice versa. The love is always well reciprocated! I have dogs who I’ve only walked about once or twice and I know without a doubt they’d be happy to see me! I’ve turned some of the most timid dogs into my best friends! Always great to see those eyes light up and little tails wagging.
