Angel – Featured Walker

Dog Walkers come to us from all walks of life, with varying levels of professional experience within and without the industry. We love meeting someone that enters dog walking having never done anything like it before, but ends up being naturally amazing at it! That’s how Angel has been since he’s joined our team in July of 2017.  Angel is a very patient and understanding individual, which goes a long way when working with some of the more sensitive dogs. He has a lot of love in his heart for the dogs, he’s always in a good mood, and he will never let you down. For all these reasons and more, we’re proud to select Angel as our Featured Walker this month. Please read below to get to know him more for yourself!

DDI: Why did you decide to become a dog walker?

Angel: I decided to become a dog walker after a layoff from my previous job at a construction company.  A friend of mine at DDI told me they were hiring and, since I am an animal lover and enjoy being active, it seemed like a no-brainer to apply.

DDI: What is your favorite thing about the job? and DDI?

Angel: There are several reasons I like this job. I like being able to work relatively independently and it’s great exercise. But, the best aspect is being in the company of dogs so often and, on occasion, cats. I enjoy getting to know each pet, learning their varied personalities and knowing I can provide them a little comfort while they wait for their owners to come home. Also, working at DDI has been great. Everyone I’ve met there is awesome. They’re all animal lovers and always willing to offer support whether they’re a fellow walker or manager.  Also, it’s always great walking into the office and being greeted with a wagging tail and, oftentimes, having a fuzzy assistant to “help” with whatever task you may be trying to complete.

DDI: Tell us about your passions/hobbies!

Angel: Aside from being a dog walker, I love reading  actual paper books, cooking and am a music lover.  My music collection includes a wide variety of genres spanning all eras of recorded music. For quite a few years, I was a full-time touring and session musician. More recently, you might catch me with my own group, The Angel Colon Band, shaking up some dive bars around Chicagoland.

DDI: What would you like our readers/clients to know most about you?

Angel: Mostly, I’d like our clients to know I respect their homes and pets as I do my own. I’m a sucker for those fuzzy faces and enjoy spending time with each one of them.

Thank you, Angel, for all you do for Dogs Deserve It!
